I adore vintage fashion because it’s choosing to embody a lost time and art, such as cursive writing, and giving it one more story to tell!
We would like to thank you for supporting Scarlett Andersen in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
Vintage fashion comes from so many different periods of style, but they all have something in common that contradicts our current way of life: it was slower, better quality, and was packed with a lot more love. My character reflects these values in my lifestyle, which then feed into my fashion choices. I put on a well-tailored dress, some pearls, and smile at strangers, maybe give some flowers to my neighbors. It’s not just vintage clothes, it’s the care and glamour of vintage life itself.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
I believe in the sentiment “everyday is all there is,” and I manage to live accordingly. I don’t possess a singular “dream moment” because I live my dream through every one of my outfit changes. It would be nice to visit the Dior Museum I suppose, as I love his gown designs!
What would you do with $20,000?
I would pay for my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Physics; as of right now, I take out loans to pay for school since I don’t qualify for enough financial aid. I love fashion, but my true purpose is also to master my chosen field. It’s important to me that as I go through school and eventually work, I challenge preconceived notions of what a Physicist should “look like”. I want to provide others with an opportunity to see someone that can be avant-garde in such an old-fashioned field.
