My style of vintage fusion helped me regain confidence in myself after chemotherapy. Vintage is the change that fashion needs!
We would like to thank you for supporting Johnathon Kraus in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
Due to my diligence when sourcing vintage clothing, I am able to faithfully recreate looks that would otherwise be lost to time. In a fashion world that has been watered down with minimalism, GORP-Core, and 'Glunge', cohesion has been replaced with abstract concepts and branding. However, I believe my style of vintage fusion pays homage to what once was while forging a new path forward, embracing colors, cuts, and concepts that have been otherwise cast aside in search of the next 'big' look.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
I would love to have the opportunity to go through the Adidas, Reebok, Nike, or another sportswear brands archives just to see the many different shoes - both in production and in concept - that were created during the Shoe Race from the late 70's to the mid 90's. There is so much to learn from how the shoes were imagined, designed, and constructed that I feel could be very pertinent today.
What would you do with $20,000?
I would use some to attend a local University to obtain an associates degree while I slowly recover from my battle with cancer. It would be of massive help while i am looking for a place to live, and would give me an incredible foundation to pursue my fashion aspirations to their fullest.
