I enjoy styling bold African prints in American weather, and pairing these with various unique pieces from around the globe.
What makes your style stand out?
I believe the eclectic nature of it is what makes it stand out. I incorporate pieces made from Ankara or Isi Agwu fabrics (meaning in Igbo-"head of the lion") or neckpieces from Morocco or Kenya, that historically have not been as popular where I currently live, in North America. So I guess this makes my style stand out.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream moment is relaunching my mom’s brand with a runway show that blends classic West African prints and clean modern designs, and seeing a global magazine feature title that alludes to it, and/or seeing people with great fashion sense rocking our designs!
What would you do with $20,000?
If I’m lucky enough to win $20,000, I’ll relaunch my mom’s fashion house, that dressed many women in our small town. Your support helps me honor her work from the mid-1970s in West Africa. I’ll create new collections with classic West African textiles, made for everyday wear today.
