Style and fashion are more than clothes—they’re my language, my power, my pride. As a Black queer person, fashion allows me to tell my story
We would like to thank you for supporting Venus Evergreen in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
As a plus-sized, queer, Black first-year student at SCAD, my style stands out because it's a bold, unapologetic expression of identity, artistry, and resilience. I use fashion not just to dress myself, but to tell stories—blending vibrant colors, layered textures, and unconventional silhouettes that reflect both my cultural roots and queer pride. In a space full of creatives, I push boundaries by making my body the canvas, challenging traditional beauty standards while celebrating me.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream is to create high fashion for queer, Black, plus-sized people—clothes that are bold, wearable, and truly stylish. I want every piece to celebrate our bodies with intention and edge, merging runway drama with everyday confidence. It’s about designing fashion that doesn’t just include us—it centers us, empowers us, and proves we *are* the future of high fashion.
What would you do with $20,000?
With $20,000, I’d create a clothing line and safe space for marginalized people like me—those who’ve had to hide parts of themselves to survive. Through inclusive designs, community workshops, and paid creative opportunities, I’ll build a brand that’s more than fashion—it’s expression, healing, and freedom.
