I dress how I feel, which is great lol. My moods change but I stay committed to pushing boundaries and expressing myself through style.
We would like to thank you for supporting Van Gray III in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
What makes my style stand out is the range. I do a little bit of everything so you never know what to expect when I show up. As a Black man in urban Black culture, we are often told how to present and seen as less than if we take risks in fashion. I follow no rules. I only know how to be me, and so far my style and confidence has opened doors and freed me rather than limited me.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream fashion moment would be getting dressed by one of my favorite designers for Cannes or maybe the Met Gala once my name is recognized. I would also love to style and creatively direct a major artist through an entire fashion week circuit with look after look, press raving, and me expressing myself through the perfect muse. That way my creativity and vision for myself and others would be recognized. As long as that happens, my dream is complete.
What would you do with $20,000?
Everybody here is probably saying what they think you want to hear, talking about taking the $20,000 and starting their dream fashion brand with sketches and runway visions. Cute, but not me. I’m putting a down payment on an investment property. Dreams don’t grow without soil, and stability is the ground you need to stand on. You can’t run toward the future if the floor beneath you is crumbling.
