Style is pure self-discovery. It’s my true voice, allowing me to fuse my West African roots with modern fashion to share my unique story.
We would like to thank you for supporting Tonya Williams in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
My style is a vibrant, intentional fusion of two worlds. A blend of bold beautiful West African culture with modern Western aesthetics. It stands out because it reflects my whole journey, a strong mix of tradition, passion, and discovery in a new life.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream is to attend a major event wearing a design that showcases the true artistry of West African craftsmanship, like a gown of Kente or Ankara with a sharp, modern silhouette. This would celebrate my culture on a global stage and prove that true style is rooted in heritage and worn with passion.
What would you do with $20,000?
I would invest the $20,000 to launch my style brand. I would start by taking a business course for self-employed creators and launching a professional website. The rest would fund a curated capsule collection of West African textiles, allowing me to design and create a few true representation pieces of my fusion style.
