What makes me passionate about style is the gift of life people, queer people give fashion. I owe it to myself AND my community to look FAB!
What makes your style stand out?
My style stands out because I am allow how I feel in the environment to influence what I wear. I think to myself how can I be impactful with my appearance today, what stance do I want to take on the world today. And sometimes my style changes because I am a human that has so much history and world to be influenced by! Some of my style icons aren't even fashion figures, they're people like Thomas Sankara, Marsha P. Johnson, Prince Nico Mbraga, their impact on life is what inspires me most!
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream fashion moment is to one day launch my own fashion brand, named after my late mother, the first woman to ever show me what great style is. My goal to have a brand that is manufactured all in my home country of Liberia, where it can create jobs for the youth but also inspire them to pursue creativity beyond fashion. I want Liberia to be apart of the reinvention of African Fashion. It is my dream to create a great fashion house with its roots in Liberia, especially as a transgender woman.
What would you do with $20,000?
The first thing I would do with the money would be to donate to hospitals in Liberia like ELWA, who have provided aid to those affected by HIV and AIDS. Secondly, I would donate a portion to my family, The Black Trans Liberation Kitchen. BTLK has been such an instrumental part of my identity, it's my mission to protect, take care, and love the dolls. The rest of the money I'd use as seed money to launch my brand.
