Being able to represent my Indigenous people with my contemporary style that is full of color, and joy. I want everyone to smile.
What makes your style stand out?
My esthetic is a colorful contemporary city vibe mixed with my Indigenous roots to create an edgy aura with my tribal imagery. My designs make people feel empowered by wearing their culture in a fresh way that goes beyond traditional ribbon shirts and skirts. It’s about highlighting the rich stories of the our past through modern fashion, allowing us to celebrate our heritage while embracing contemporary styles." My styles appeals to the youth and makes them more interested in their culture.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
I’d say seeing my designs on a famous actor or actress. I’ve seen my designs in our local paper and on the local news but I think seeing my designs in a huge public forum would be amazing.
What would you do with $20,000?
I’d would really like to upgrade my studio. I love it but it’s getting too small for my needs. I’d like to also teach the local youth how to sew for a life skill. So the money would help fund what I would need to teach them.
