It’s about making something out of nothing. Thrifting or dumpster diving, you can take garbage and make something beautiful and awesome.
We would like to thank you for supporting Sonali Sinha in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
My style is incomplete and evolving. That’s what makes me. I’ve always felt out of place in this world. Since I was a child, I’ve been in a constant search for where I fit in. Now I realize I need to make my own way. My style is a combination of the things that speak to my soul— skating, rock music, magic— but also the frustrations of being boxed in. My style is patterns that never make sense with each other, clashing colors. It reflects the constant battle of my pursuit of peace in this world.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
Showcasing ridiculously beautiful dresses inspired by the magnificence of the ocean that happen to be made out of garbage. It would be a fun fashion show. Everyone would get pizza and there would be hands on activities so people don’t get bored and then they’re wowed by my designs.
What would you do with $20,000?
I would rent out a studio so I can make a mechanical jewelry line out of sustainable materials, go scuba diving so I can see manta rays in person, and get a tattoo.
