In an era of consumption my custom looks are a reflection of my need to create. Bringing often cheap and gifted items a new level of whimsy.
What makes your style stand out?
My style is nonbinary and multicultural like me. I was raised in a melting pot of cultures and people, who inspire my looks. I also have a love for custom pieces, mixing patterns, and color coordination. Fashion trends change too quickly for my tastes and I hold onto what I wear like it’s treasure. Even the store bought pajamas I wear like pirate pants.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My fashion dream is less of a moment and more of a maintenance. It would be to style clothes for my community and artistic inspirations like Rebecca Sugar and Janelle Monáe who’s fantastical world building give me hope in world where that is priceless. I also dream of styling for plays and musicals.
What would you do with $20,000?
In the words of Lin Manuel Miranda “it takes half of that cash just to save my *** from financial ruin”. While I would take some of it to spend on myself, I live like the average American in debt with responsibilities coming first. The most fun thing I would do would be to buy myself a pair of TUK creepers and a suit.
