I love textures, colors, and how silhouettes come together to make style rather than trend. Timeless and quality pieces are my favorite !
We would like to thank you for supporting Raquel Benítez in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
I believe style is an expression of how much of ourselves we allow to show others. How I stand out? I try to avoid repetition, in other words what the human eye is tired of seeing. I incorporate nature’s concept like birds for example their colors, and their patterns. To be able to create identity more than an outfit.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
I have always wanted to express myself fully in fashion with no limitations and no fears. In a place where that feeling can be celebrated. As a woman who adores men’s clothing I long for a moment where my creations can finally live and be free outside of my mind. That would be my dream fashion moment.
What would you do with $20,000?
I would step out of my comfort zone and allow myself the opportunity I have been hoping for since I was seven. The first androgynous men’s fashion designer. Of course like me many have come before and after but, I remember being young and drawing men’s clothing for hours thinking to myself one day I’ll be a men’s fashion designer, a woman who understands textures, silhouettes, and is inclusive. There are no gender roles. Just the love for clothing and what defines us and makes us confident.
