A way to express myself, to inspire those around me, and challenge my own sartorial prowess through monochrome dressing.
What makes your style stand out?
The red has an obvious impact upon people, but I am constantly changing my silhouette. I always have an over arching style reference for each season, usually a specific period or designer from the early 20th century, rather than what the fashion elite say is in. For example, the look for Fall 2025 is “Pre-Code Gun Moll,” which is to say, calf length pencil skirts, tight sweaters and a nipped in waist achieved with a wide belt. Additionally, I never find the monochrome to be limiting.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
I collect Norma Kamali designs from her first 30 years and am often wearing something of hers. My dream would be to one day run into her on the street while dressed in her designs, so I may give her the praise she deserves, respectfully of course.
What would you do with $20,000?
I’ve always wanted to do fashion writing, both on specific historic themes and their relevance today, and more general style observations. The $20,000 would help me achieve this by giving me a financial cushion, relieving stress so I can focus on writing and being more creative. I’d start with a blog or sub stack of sorts but if it ever gained traction, I’d love nothing more than trying to do a more official publication.
