This is my creative spirit come to life- And you can’t have too many statement pieces! My style has a lot to do with disability pride & joy.
What makes your style stand out?
I love to incorporate my wheelchair into my fashion choices, making spoke decorations and other fun accessories for it myself! I use bright colours and no shortage of statement pieces to put together a look to rock at any occasion- even just to the grocery store! I love the smiles my style and my fun chair bring to people, especially kids with disabilities and their families who want to know how to make their own mobility devices more personalized! It brings me a sense of community.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
I want to see people with disabilities flourish and show off their unique styles, as the world gets more accessible to us to go out and show off to the world. I want to take up space and show that I'm proud to be who I am- even if I need help sometimes, or can only stand for a few minutes at a time. My dream fashion moment is to witness people of all abilities celebrated at an event that highlights exactly who they are and who they want the world to know they are.
What would you do with $20,000?
As a creative with a disability within the convention space, I've noticed an alarming lack of accessibility taken into account when running these events. I hope to use this money to launch a new branch of my artistic journey into community care- AccessCATS! (Convention Accessibility Tool Solutions.) I will be creating tools for convention or event staff and organizers to utilize to make their events safer, accessible and more enjoyable for everyone! I hope to expand with more artistic advocacy.
