Bringing Indian cultural wear into my style is how I express my identity. Thrifting is how I express creativity and conscious consumption.
What makes your style stand out?
Most of my outfits are composed of vintage pieces or other thrifted items, which means a lot of creative layering. As I mentioned, bringing elements of my culture to fuse different styles together—like adding a dupatta scarf or saree over Victorian era blouses, for example. A big part of this also is Indian jewelry—adorning my neck, ears, and face, with gold and silver pieces straight from India. Handmade and antique jewelry is my go-to.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
On the surface, I’d say being flown out for Fashion Week in all the places (NYC, Paris, Milan, etc) and having multiple different looks put together by a team of stylists, while still having a direct hand in the creative direction. (Think Doechii FW looks this past year, THAT level) Honestly, I love being in the chair before the shoot or walk, I love cracking up with the MUA, stylists, and photographers. As long as I have that, and feel confident in what I’m in, I’m happy.
What would you do with $20,000?
Half would go to my music career, the other half would be split between clothes, photoshoots and donating to people in Palestine, Congo, Sudan, etc.
