Style is my self expression. I’m 60 years old, never had cosmetic work. I am embracing my age gracefully. I do not compromise to fit in.
We would like to thank you for supporting Mary Larrimore in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
“Whatever “it” is I have it— Katherine Hepburn. My entire adult life I have been told that if I would tone down the way I dress and wear a padded bra I might get a date. I’m 60 and still single. I’m not here to compromise. I am a trained, designer, drapper, pattern maker, sewer, stitcher, historian.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
I am a graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago where I majored in fashion and went directly to Milan and worked for a couturier, Stephanie Janson. I was on top of the world! I had 5 different houses that were open to me. I come back to Panama City to take care of my mother with Alzheimer’s. After she passed my siblings held up her estate in probate for many years and as her legal guardian I could not leave. My career was over in Milan was over. I want to get back to creating!
What would you do with $20,000?
I would rebuild my studio. I had a 5 star Etsy business. Hurricane Michael destroyed my work studio. I would use that money to reset up my sewing stations, new dress forms, but most importantly need my studio building repaired so I can work again. By the way at the SAIC I won a scholarship every yearly competition. It is my passion, after the hurricane I camped out in my front yard for 6 years! I want my life back! I need to create! I need to express myself and immerse myself in my work.
