Fashion is the ultimate creative expression, how I’ve found my voice. I’m not defined by a style, loving to find vintage pieces with a story
What makes your style stand out?
I’m quite eclectic and love to learn the stories of the clothes and people that wore them when I go to garage sales and flea markets, making up fun stories when I don’t get the chance to learn them. I don’t have the heart to part with old pieces of mine so I wear them in new ways or remake them into something new. I believe in a circular economy so 95% of my wardrobe is second hand and I love having pieces that represent the people I’ve met or learned about in my collection.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
I have two, one of which is for all my friends to be wearing my clothes, either made, gifted, or lended. Generosity is something the world needs more of and it warms my heart to see people happy while wearing my wardrobe. Another is producing my own collections and integrating my messages through my art and sustainable practices. I admire the work of the artisans in Prato Italy who are repurposing fibers into new fabrics and dream of working with them to make 100% repurposed collections.
What would you do with $20,000?
I would create my own fashion line with hopes of showing at Antwerp Fashion Week. I would love to collaborate with up-and-coming designers who send a message through their work. I am studying economics, art history, and critical theory and social justice here at college and plan to use what I’m learning to uplift important messages of other artists and my own, being the change I want to see in the world and the fashion industry itself.
