Machaela Holly

Sewing was passed down generations to me, but I honed my craft while battling illnesses & vanity sizing. Style; "Y'all-ternative" meets Y2K.

What makes your style stand out?

I have mixed several different styles based on people I grew up looking up to and styles I found as an adult too - like Stevie Nicks, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and even Prince. But even with all those style influences, I still made it my own in the end. Everyone in Hollywood usually wears what was made by a designer, but I wear my own creations. I also am a makeup artist, a cosmetologist, and a tattoo artist, who makes nails, jewelry, & accessories. I've made an entire new wardrobe in a week.

What’s your dream fashion moment?

I want to meet my childhood style icons and tell them about how they influenced me in the best way possible. I'd love to tell them about how I was just a young girl watching them on TV and that was enough to influence my style and my mind. I went from a bullied, poverty stricken child wearing hand me downs and Walmart clothes, to being asked by my bullies if I can make them clothes. I would just love to tell them how much they made my life better.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would love to have enough money to launch my own business where I can sell my creations and also make others their dream wardrobes. I would also finally create a home for my family and I so we don't have to keep going place to place, and we can finally have a place to call home. As much as I would want to put all that money into stuff I want.. what my children and I need is more important. They're the entire reason I apply to these competitions.
