I’m drawn to dark aesthetics and silver hardware. I love complexity in details and silhouettes that make a monochrome outfit stand out.
We would like to thank you for supporting Lauren Vu in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
I believe that working within limitations shows true creativity. I try my best to buy secondhand and from sustainable brands while staying true to my style and working within my budget. Despite confining myself to a few colors and clothing items, my style is versatile because it is inspired by my own experiences and interests. I draw inspiration from architecture and Asian fashion brands and combine them with Western music influences.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
I would love to have my own jewelry line consisting of chunky chains and unique accessories. It would be a dream to have my favorite music artists wear my items from my brand, or even to become their personal stylist. I am interested in photography and videography as well, so to be able to combine fashion with different types of media would be unreal.
What would you do with $20,000?
I would give a portion to help end the crises in Gaza, Congo, and Sudan. I would also use the money to develop my matcha cafe called Chain Matter. The purpose of my cafe is not only to sell drinks, but to combine fashion, art, architecture, and design within a brand and physical space. I plan to support small artists and businesses to create a community through commissions and collaborations. Some of the money would also be used to buy my fashion grails, of course!
