Style is living and changing. It’s passions and interests. It reflects you over time. It’s another hand the artist’s mind can use to paint.
What makes your style stand out?
I commit to my clothing. I’d never own an article that I don’t put to use. Even my formalwear and more flamboyant garments should feel like a second skin. That’s what makes fashion evocative—it’s personal. You keep pieces for years; you wear your lifestyle. The clothes age alongside your developing sartorial sensibilities. My loyalty to my wardrobe means I’m comfortable in what I wear. It’s never a show—it’s how I feel that day.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
Fashion is a form of creative output and catharsis. I want to be able to see the art I envision come to life. To make a splash in the space of fashion is not just to turn heads with a moment on the red carpet. For me, it is finding a balance of design and novelty that makes a beautiful style palatable for all. That’s what makes a successful brand, and that’s what makes me excited. My dream is to find that balance, and to represent that kind of tastefulness in my own design.
What would you do with $20,000?
It would go towards finishing my education. I’m in my third year at the Berklee College of Music, and as much as it’d be nice to take a trip to Husbands Paris, I’m invested in seeing my degree finished. I’m very committed to my music as my primary form of art. The competition itself provides a unique and exciting set of opportunities, so I would owe it to my lovely parents to see myself through the program that they’ve generously invested in for me.
