Grandma taught me thrift, pride & presentation church best when leaving the house. Mom showed me fashion’s power. That’s when I fell in love
What makes your style stand out?
What makes my style stand out is that it’s rooted in resourcefulness and storytelling. I grew up with a grandma who taught me to turn thrift finds and hand-me-downs into looks that carried pride, whether it was Sunday church or a simple movie night. Later, seeing my mom treated like a star in a department store showed me fashion’s power. My style is a mix of resilience, creativity and self-expression, taking what I have and making it unforgettable.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream fashion moment is finding something that’s been sitting in the back of my closet, bringing it out for an event, work or even a date, and looking in the mirror knowing it just works. I love the feeling of making an old piece or something I’ve upcycled feel brand new again. To me, that’s the magic of style transforming what you already have into a look that feels fresh, powerful and unforgettable.
What would you do with $20,000?
With $20,000 I would invest in a Juki industrial sewing machine and launch my business built on upcycling and repurposing fashion. From watching my grandma turn hand-me-downs into Sunday bests to learning the power of style from my mom, I’ve always seen fashion as transformation. This investment would let me take that same creativity and resilience, and build something unforgettable that inspires others to see beauty in what already exists.
