The ability to express yourself, your values, and shape the way you are perceived on a day to day basis is what inspires me.
What makes your style stand out?
I believe that my use of juxtaposition is what makes my style stand out. For example, wearing flip flops in an otherwise "fancy" outfit to make the look seem more effortless and chic. In addition to this, I try not to limit my style to one or two "aesthetics," but rather try to create my own identity using pieces from all decades and subcultures. This applies to my accessories to, as I try to have running motifs in my outfits, Ex: a safety pin used to show my love for garment construction.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream fashion moment would be to run a fashion house that incorporates controversial issues into their designs and inspires conversation on grand concepts such as consumerism, gender-roles, and what is considered "wearable" on the day to day. I would do this by drawing inspiration from countless designers who have been successful up to this point, using juxtaposition of these vastly unique ideas to create a brand that has the power to make actual change in the world and the way others think.
What would you do with $20,000?
I would use it as start up money for my first collection. I would start with perfected basics such as jeans, long sleeves, flip flops, and beanies, each inspired by a vintage equivalent piece. I would design these using patterns dating back to the 40s, and would market them as extremely wearable, durable, and versatile in order to garner buzz surrounding my brand. I would document this entire process on my tik tok, and form cohesive story around the history and inspiration of each piece.
