Style is a daily opportunity to dismantle oppression. I can show someone I am safe without a word, and disempower a norm through a boot.
We would like to thank you for supporting Joseph Jefferies in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
My style is an exact expression of how I feel on any given day. I choose unexpected pieces with persistent practicality. The things I choose to wear feel unique and special, not because they're expensive, but because they're carefully curated and personal. That makes my style stand out. That it is so wildly accessible while remaining so wildly me.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
To hear the clack of my boots down Milanese or Parisian streets--coat hung over my shoulders, trousers billowing in the breeze, with a sunglass resting perfectly at the bridge of my nose. Who needs flashing cameras when you have the inspired glances of folks on the street, envisioning their own fashion journies as a result of your chic strut. Of course, I would be on the way to a photoshoot, but that's not the moment--the moment is all in the everyday.
What would you do with $20,000?
I would use that $20,000 to stabilize my financial position and lay the groundwork for my dream of opening a peer-run social service agency that caters to the needs of my community through radical compassion, unwavering hospitality, and boundless joy. What a gift and privilege that would be.
