My passion for style began in childhood, shaping my vision to blend culture, creativity, and timeless self-expression through fashion.
We would like to thank you for supporting Jortae Avee Charles in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
My style reflects my heritage as a first generation Jamaican and American, blending Caribbean pride with American refinement. Inspired by my grandparents’ resilience, I draw from 90s nostalgia like statement gloves, the soulfulness of Neo Soul, and the cultural spirit of Harlem. My work is the manifestation of Black glamour, balancing nostalgia, storytelling, and contemporary vision.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream fashion moment is opening my first flagship store and seeing my brand in retailers such as Saks and Nordstrom, where culture and storytelling remain central. I want my designs to serve as more than fashion, but as a platform that celebrates heritage, Black glamour, and contemporary vision.
What would you do with $20,000?
With $20,000, I would invest in Aveeation by expanding marketing, producing sustainable collections, and leaving fast fashion. Following our Flying Solo NYFW debut, this support would elevate high-level production and campaigns rooted in culture and storytelling. It would continue the success of Aveeation, from Shein X best-sellers to features in Vogue, and bring the brand closer to my dream of a flagship store and placement in Saks and Nordstrom.
