Jorge Sanchez

I love wearing linens and haute couture styles. My dream is to attend a live fashion show to observe gorgeous models wearing high fashion.

What makes your style stand out?

I’m a Mexican Américan gay male and realize I do not look like any of the male models on Magazines. Considering my indian heritage, I attempt to blend various cultural styles using simple indigenous patterns, sleek lighter fabrics and a minimalist approach to mens’ fashion. I only dress up for important events.

What’s your dream fashion moment?

My DFM is being chosen to attend my first, ever fashion week, recognizing that being older doesn’t mean I have to wear youthful, vibrant styles to stand out in a crowd, that when others see what or who I’m wearing instead of judgement I receive compliments for my originality.

What would you do with $20,000?

I’m a social worker for Casey Family Programs, a non-profit foundation improving the lives of foster youth based in San Diego, CA. Naturally, I’d ask big name designers to donate their brand’s clothes to foster youth who often do not have a choice in what they want to wear. Due to program budget constraints they must find clothes/shoes in the clearance sectio which do not fit well. Foster parents/programs do not have the funding to dress our most vulnerable population. This will boost confidence
