What makes your style stand out?

The people who see it, take photos on the sly an post it with no tag on social media, people who stop and ask if they can take a photo. People who stop me and ask where I got what I am wearing when I am wearing things I have made myself. I am a weaver and have been making low waste woven garments by Upcyleing my own domestic textiles and fabrics donated to the Reuse Centre at the Textile Museum of Canada. I volunteer there on Wednesday afternoons demonstrating weaving techniques. Smiling

What’s your dream fashion moment?

When I am walking down the street in a 3 piece wool suit made with the Hunters Check in shades of blue grey and brown that i have hand woven the yardage for, the vest is made and i am fulling/ brushing the remaining yardage before cutting it. A shirt made of handspun hand woven forage nettles. ( I am not a knitter will have to commission my under garments and sox.) Wearing pair of hand made shoes with fabric uppers of cloth I have jacquard woven. When slow fashion is the everyday.

What would you do with $20,000?

Donate some to the Textile Museum of Canada in Ktoronto, Mohawk word for where Toronto is & People Living With AIDS Foundation in Ktoronto. I would buy a shirt and jack by Tomo Kishida a Japanese weaver/ designer whose work I admire. I would take a great niece who is studying fashion at Seneca College in Toronto to next year's Fashion Art Toronto. I would buy another piece of art with one payment rather then 4. What I wouldn't do is spend it on any brand fashion garments. I don't buy new.
