What makes me passionate about style is how biographical it can be. What we wear, whether we choose for it to or not, tells a story about us
What makes your style stand out?
My style stands out for its personalized touch, each piece carries imagery of people and things that inspire me. I began by hand-embroidering flowers and sewing band patches onto my own clothes, which caught attention. When others asked where I got them, they were surprised to learn I made them myself. That led me to offer embroidery through private orders and classes. It’s rewarding to see people embrace their individuality in their clothing the same way I do.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream fashion moment would be seeing my pieces in a museum. I absolutely want to see the pieces I embroidered and sewed on at fashion shows, that’s been a dream of mine too. However whenever I see something in a museum, I feel it has an impact like art work or something historical. Especially seeing clothing from centuries ago with tears and stains from past use in a museum. I would hope my pieces are worn by people or in ways that will be admired years later.
What would you do with $20,000?
With the $20,000, I’d invest in my clothing business and give back to those who supported me early on. I want to help my mom with her student debt and also support friends who’ve helped me get here. Some are involved in community building, event planning, and offer workshops in the art/clothing world. I’d love to give back to them, just as they’ve supported me, by contributing to the classes and events they’ve introduced me to.
