I could go on all day about the importance of stylistic expression and how it’s made feel the need to inspire others to do the same!
We would like to thank you for supporting Jenna Slyman in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
Hi I’m Jenna from Ohio. I think it’s hard for me to not stand out!! I’ve always been a fashionista, wearing boas, heels and oh so many pearlsss. I think my style is very intentional and full of decorative whimsy. I am an artist, and I like to treat my body as a canvas. I’m not afraid to stand out and be my authentic self, like so many people my age and from the Midwest are. I want to inspire my peers to unleash THIER inner drag… but, I need to get mine off the ground first!
What’s your dream fashion moment?
OMGGG literally being in rupauls drag race, helping to design some revolutionary pieces ( Chappel roan has been KILLING ITTTT, I follow one of her stylists on insta) and it’s a dream of mine to have my very own magazine line that displays all perspectives, includes sentimental, human interest stories of the dolls that need visibility. This magazine would have excellent, professionally crafted portraiture, journalistic tones and SO MUCH FUN and COLOR!! Basically I want to do it all :))
What would you do with $20,000?
I am a student in college right now, so I would save some to help with college, BUT I want to give back to the Native American community. I’ve been meaning to start a photo story based on stjo.org ; this org works to educate Native American youth in rural parts of America. So much of the queer communities ideals, practices, and even fashion, stems from our native friends. I also see myself working with ms Pattie Gonia, environmental activist and drag queen.
