Jean Sequins

I've always loved dress up. It's why I became a Drag King and intersect color, pattern, texture, shape, history, & reference to tell a story

What makes your style stand out?

My style is evolutionary. I like to embody a character or an attitude with every outfit. When I shop for clothes I'm always shopping for 2; my drag character and my personal life. I often incorporate my drag wardrobe into my everyday rotation and vice versa. You might see me in a rhinestoned fringe vest at the grocery store or a button down sequin trimmed dress shirt on stage. And on top of all that, I'm a lab based scientist so everything I wear has to be lab safe compliant!

What’s your dream fashion moment?

Working with the MIT materials lab to create or utilize a new kind of fabric. To do something completely unique that no one has ever seen before and makes real waves in the fashion industry.

What would you do with $20,000?

It might sound sappy but reinvesting the $20k back into the queer community, especially into elevating the status of Drag Kings in the public eye, would mean the most to me. Ideally I could put some of the money into my local Boston community and also distribute some money to queer and drag communities that are directly under attack by their own local legislators. Being flamboyant and visible means using that position to help others in need.
