The way I wore a school uniform sparked a fashion rebellion amongst my peers. My drag is an ode to the hopeless romanticism of the South.
What makes your style stand out?
I am salacious yet conservative, refined and courageous but not outrageous. My drag is not a caricature, it is a sincere expression of desire and needing to belong. My day to day looks are folksy and old, a wooly kettle brim hat, tweed and scones. Paired with my tattoos, I am never short of glances glares and inquisitive inquires from passers by.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My wife, Zoey died from epilepsy (SUDEP) during the aftermath of Hurricane Helene’s devastation in Western North Carolina. Then and there, I threw my drag persona, Rose, away. I didn’t want to be Rose anymore not without Zoey. My dream fashion moment would be to win this competition, so that I can bring Rose out of the closet one last time to say goodbye to the world in a tattered and well worn cowboy hat with a sexy red dress and big black platform boots.
What would you do with $20,000?
I would donate half of the proceeds to the Epilepsy Foundation in honor of my late wife, Zoey. The remaining amount would be given to her parents, Dallas and Laura.
