I try to represent all sides of me, blending sporty & hyper-feminine. I love vintage pieces and unique/comfortable/versatile bases.
What makes your style stand out?
I think your confidence is the best way to make your style stand out, regardless of whether it's a 'cute" fit or not. Personally, I feel most confident when I'm comfortable and colorful. I like to be able to move but still feel like I'm making a statement. I prefer my fashion to be functional and sustainable, so that it not only expresses me but is also in line with my values. My style is a blend of my day-to-day life needs with my Black/African/Latine/Southern US/millennial culture.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
To attend a fashion show! Going from cutting up and collaging fashion magazines as a kid to seeing the biggest stage for fashion would be a such an iconic childhood dream come true! I would also LOVE to meet Law Roach, whose book encouraged me to reconnect with my personal style. I adore 'gender fluid' style and those that blend functionality with art adding in personal culture.
What would you do with $20,000?
Well I wouldn't quit my day job as an immigration justice advocate, but I would invest in my passion for sustainable, multi cultured fashion. While I may do some vintage shopping, I think traveling to experience new fashion inspiration would be the best investment. Of course, I would donate a portion to the amazing organization that is leading this as well as others I support regularly! I first got involved in advocating for global HIV treatment through volunteering with the ONE campaign.
