What makes your style stand out?

I combine my style with contemporary pieces from all over the world. My outfit inspiration stems from incorporating my love for formal suits, stealing from my dad’s vintage wardrobe, adorned in my grandmother’s golden jewels, wrapped in Urdu poetry shawls by revolutionary scholars and Sufi poets from my motherlands. My style aims to make soulful statements not only about my own identity, but my elders’ and ancestors’ cultural histories, heirlooms and traditional outfits that were once erased.

What’s your dream fashion moment?

It would be an absolute honour to have my outfits spark conversations that go beyond the runway. Dreams are not confined to moments but eternal legacies, and I want my style to leave a lasting mark by walking the runway in an outfit that I put together. Even if it’s for a moment, I want my outfit to be remembered by at least one person who appreciated the story behind it. Walking the runway in my attire, is not just my dream fashion moment, but my ancestors’ wildest, most radical acts of love.

What would you do with $20,000?

I’d invest a portion of funds towards starting my own business in the fashion industry and towards my educational journey in academia. I would also treat my senior, aging parents for their generosity. Although, I can express a variety of ways to spend $20,000 for my own future, the most important one would be to donate a significant amount to charities that support vulnerable communities and assist low-income families through their dark times.
