Fashion has been my therapy as I heal from childhood trauma. It is a chance to create a new painting on my body every day.
What makes your style stand out?
Someone once told me that my clothes told a story of a person who had experienced a lifetime of difficulty in order to become confident enough to style myself the way I do - which is by blending elements of all of fashion history - male, female, urban, regal, peasant, couture, thrift and designer in a rebellious yet classic manner. To me clothing is the medium through which I can inspire and relate to others.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
To inspire others to tell their own stories through their own clothes. I love Princess Diana - she was the epitome of fashion with a cause. just like her, i’d love to show others that they can be anything they want to be and do it with dignity, style, and confidence. A very close second would be the day my husband and I renew our vows. We didn’t have much money when we were married and I’d love to show him the dream outfit I’ve always had planned for him. He’s always been my biggest supporter.
What would you do with $20,000?
Invest!!! I would take a big chunk of it and invest so that I could start a real fund for my husband and I to have a retirement. Then I’d take a small amount and probably shop on consignment so that i could finally own a real Rick Owens dress, some legit vintage Versace, maybe some Gareth Pugh tights, anything by Ann Demeulemeester, anything by Galliano, and most definitely a real Philip Treacy hat - something with major Isabella Blow vibes
