As a woman of transgender experience, style is my armor, it is my safety, and it gives me power to exist with my head held high.
We would like to thank you for supporting Era Steinfeld in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
My fashion sensibilities pay homage to the beauty and power of trans femininity through the art of drag. My style is glamorous, raw, edgy, and breaks boundaries of traditional genres we see in the world of fashion today. I style myself from head to toe, and always turn heads on stage or in a crowd.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
Trans women are often discarded in the world of fashion despite the historical impacts we have made on the fashion industry. So, my dream fashion moment is walking as a final bride in a couture runway show. This honor would allow the world to see trans women as fashion makers, not just consumers, and placing a trans woman in this spotlight has the power to change hearts and open minds to the external and internal beauty of the trans community.
What would you do with $20,000?
I am the Mother of a trans chosen family in Austin, Texas, where anti trans laws are on the rise and gender affirming care is becoming more and more costly. I would use half of my funds to help my chosen kids reach their gender affirming surgical goals, and curate an all trans fashion experience here in Austin with connections to designers, models, and venues with the other half.
