From an early age I realized my sense of style was a gift a reflection of my love for the women in my family who have great style themselves
What makes your style stand out?
I am not someone you can put in one box. I love to bring out my masculine and feminine inflection in my style. My style is inherent to me and my upbringing. Coming from humble beginnings but also having an innate sense of style. My mom and her best friend from H.S. were both teenage immigrant trendsetters in East LA in the late 70s 80s. My mom and her friends are very glamorous women whose great style have contributed to my sense of taste.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
Literally everything this great opportunity has to offer! Being in Flaunt, going to Milan, seeing a Versace show in person, Elton John knowing who I am because of this contest would be a dreeeeeeaaaaammm🫶🏽 I never really thought what exactly would be a dream fashion moment for me. I guess for someone with my indigenous background to be in the room is a dream within a dream itself.
What would you do with $20,000?
I have so many creative passion projects that I would love to pursue. Doing what speaks to me, elevates me. For example I’m currently restoring a 1986 Nissan Pickup truck on my own and I’m at the final details of it. Did I know anything about cars? No. But I learned! That truck helped fund a free food hall that my parents opened in Mexico to end hunger in the rural town where my dad is from. I was too attached to those good memories from the beginning of our benevolent foundation to let it go.
