I’m a southern punk waste lead designer using only abandoned and 2nd hand fabric. It’s my life’s work to show the world who i am in cloth.
We would like to thank you for supporting Eddie Rodriguez in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
My work showcases forgotten stories never meant to be told to the world. This is true through the history of the region and textiles that paint a picture of the past and brutal realities. In the south, fashion culture has always been iconic as well as isolating. My work focuses on the 1 of 1 vision and makes a story about the places the cloth is weaving away in. I save them to give insight into a darker reality of our waste and hidden cultures in America.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream fashion moment is to be able to showcase all my talents as a multidisciplinary artist, such as organizing a very unique runway show with my clothing and showcasing my live music as well as collaborating with other amazing artists. Seeing my brand grow and gain respect from the likes of other artists is always a dream moment.
What would you do with $20,000?
My mission would be to invest in my studio and begin to start building my accessories line with new industrial equipment and begin research in developing technologies into my clothing for a more solar punk aesthetic that also has just as much functionality. I’d also love to be able to travel to places in Europe to gain inspiration for my work and meet other designers. I would also invest in hosting more small fashion shows in my region to help other souther designers.
