I’m passionate about style because it bends rules, blends eras, and lets me tell stories no script ever could.
We would like to thank you for supporting Doreen Otaru in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
My style isn’t about labels, it’s about layers of story. I pull from film, music, and moments in culture that shaped me, mixing elegance with edge, nostalgia with newness. Some days it’s vintage velvet and sneakers, other days it’s sharp tailoring with a splash of chaos. What makes it stand out isn’t what I wear, it’s how I use it to make people feel something, even if they don’t know me yet.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
Walking into a room where every head turns, not because the outfit is expensive, but because it says something no one else would dare to say. My dream fashion moment is to stand on a global stage, like Milan Fashion Week, and have people feel that spark of recognition: that style isn’t about being seen, it’s about being remembered.
What would you do with $20,000?
I’d invest in building a platform that amplifies emerging voices in fashion and film, people who have the vision but not the access. $20,000 would become seed money to produce stories, shoots, and showcases that prove style is for everyone bold enough to own it.
