What makes your style stand out?
I am classic with a twist. I decide which trends to embrace each year and what to disregard. I always mix new things with special pieces from the past like an early 1990s Gaultier coat , Armani Motorcycle jacket or my first season Tom Ford for Gucci suit. I strive for a timeless personal style that is informed by both the current moment and the past without being a victim of either.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
To have Rei Kawakubo and Yohji Yamamoto custom design clothing for me and curate how I wear the pieces - from shoes to hats to jewelry.
What would you do with $20,000?
I would spend it with a personal shopper at Dover Street Market, Ginza in Tokyo. That would be quite something.
