I'm an artist, and style is like the frame to a painting. It should complement and bring out the best of the wearer's personality!
We would like to thank you for supporting Charlie Caulfield in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
I am nonbinary, and my style and appearance change radically from day to day. Some days I might be in a ballgown, others I might be in 1940s men's workwear. I love fashion history and pulling from a wealth of references for my styling. It doesn't matter if I'm just going to the grocery store; I always try to stand out.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream fashion moment would be to showcase something I've worked on in a museum or gallery setting. I design and fabricate a lot of my own looks, even making outfits out of paper, wood, garbage, and other unconventional materials. To see something I've made in a formal exhibition setting would be a dream come true.
What would you do with $20,000?
I'm currently a student at an art, architecture, and engineering school, and all of my free time and money go towards supporting my education. $20,000 would allow me to dream big and focus solely on my ideas for fashion without worrying about the cost. I would love to do more textile and material exploration and try making clothes with nontraditional materials, bringing science into fashion through modes like 3D printing, CNC routing, and developing organic materials.
