When I mix patterns, textures and bright colors I get so much joy. Maximalism and vintage are my everything.
We would like to thank you for supporting Carly Newbrey in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
The juxtaposition of styles and patterns that I put together are very spontaneous. I love a mixture of whimsy and camp with vintage and modern flair. I dress based on my mood and my true theme is things that make me happy. Everything I own is very specific and I find joy in making my own clothes as well. I sew, knit, and crochet often without patterns by just following my quirky style.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
The fashion dream I hope to achieve is to style Chappell Roan. Her style is so fearless and uniquely her that it would be such an dream come true to be able to either make her an outfit by hand or style her in something unique. I love that clothes give people confidence and she exemplifies that. I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention Elton was my first style icon and my dad Don was his biggest fan. He passed when I was little and listening to Elton John made me feel connected to my dad.
What would you do with $20,000?
Winning this competition would give me the confidence to pursue becoming a stylist. Clothes bring me so much joy and I would love nothing more than to be able to share that feeling with others. I think so much can be expressed with style that words can't say. Finding the perfect outfit is essential for life. Helping others find their confidence to not just look their best but feel their best is a lovely feeling. So I would love to be able to do styling full time.
