Fashion is my liberation: loud, glam, retro, and unapologetic- every outfit a love letter to joy and queerness
What makes your style stand out?
My style is storytelling in motion. Growing up Black, queer, neurodivergent, and moving around a lot taught me to fuse memory, identity, and imagination into what I wear. I pull from glam rock’s boldness, disco’s freedom, and thrifted treasures to create theatrical, fantastical looks that feel both nostalgic and unique. I use music to drive my outfits every day, which makes them personal not only to my mood but almost like a spell, a manifestation. Fashion is a force that refuses to be quiet.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream is to debut a runway show where fashion meets healing models of all genders, sizes, and backgrounds wearing looks styled as living stories. Picture a whimsically vintage theme- colliding with futuristic silhouettes, with music driving every strut. It’s not just clothes, it’s liberation on stage, proving fashion can be both spectacle and sanctuary. Also, my favorite style icons, both living and deceased, are there, marveling at my ability to carry the torch for the new generation.
What would you do with $20,000?
I’d grow my styling brand, Groovy Violet, into a fashion psychology platform, funding shoots, building an inclusive studio, and offering free styling sessions for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC youth. The money would create tangible opportunities for others to feel powerful in their skin, while supporting my path toward graduate study in social work and fashion psychology.
