Style to me is perseverance and passion beyond restriction. I love to express myself through my hijab and any unique adornments I can find.
What makes your style stand out?
I think a highlight of my personal style is the collaboration of contour and modesty. Part of my adornment as a hijabi is not showing any skin besides the essentials. I weave this role into my dress while also remaining individual in the textiles, accessories, and layers I wear on the daily. I always gravitate to heavier, chunkier pieces of jewelry and chains; I'm also all in when it comes to natural material; wood, glass, abalone, and gemstones are the four materials I absolutely live by.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
The connection of art history is one of my favorite things about the current high fashion scene. Artists like Erykah Badu, Björk, Marianna Klimaszka, and Elsa Schiaparelli frame my entire identity as an artist. Experimental fashion design is so intriguing to me; I'd love to see that in person, in a show, one day. Just being a spectator, a face to recognize in the fashion scene will always be a dream of mine.
What would you do with $20,000?
There's people I'd like to help that I can't reach financially right now. I'm in my final year of college and have dreams of designing outside of my home state. I'm hoping just being involved with Style Icon will allow me to form connections and share my identity to those that seem unreachable from my current location.
