What makes your style stand out?

Like a raven’s nest, Monroe’s ‘potato sack’ dress, the couturier touch of intense embroidery, keen detail, I blend and weave elements of the economical (utilizing very often found materials, non-recyclables that would otherwise end up in a landfill, organic and sustaining materials - silk, velvet, vintage animal fibers) - I look for quality in the natural and the synthetic. The art of dressing to me is like an inverse camouflaging, a party garland found traipsing the street becomes an accent.

What’s your dream fashion moment?

The fashion industry is evolving, but we’d be remiss to say that diversity itself is still its true calling card. Colorism, body-typed/categorized, predatory mentalities still orbit its sphere. If we look to early art movements, although yes entrenched in a lack of racial/ethnic diversity, all body types were emulated. I think of the Kibbe’s system, seasonal color theory, and the broadness of gender spectrum - I want to see in this industry an effort to sustain all walks all forms all varieties.

What would you do with $20,000?

Coming from an intensely antagonizing narcissistically abusive environment, I would use this I think to help support my own creative endeavors and passions/to build my body of work. To have the resources to construct a more sustaining path to autonomy, and raise awareness in my personal work for surviving domestic abuse, and akin to my style sense, utilizing what resources are provided you to their maximum capacity. I would use this to help myself in order to further assist others.
