I don’t know a life without style. From old magazine cutouts meeting my journal pages, to estate sale cloth becoming new clothes, that’s me.
What makes your style stand out?
I think it's the way I see life being played with around me! I love the way things grow (I think of trees and how one branch begins- it leads to other branches) and my experiences are like that for me. My love for style grows and naturally bleeds into my ongoing and changing style. Throughout life I've held different "textures" in my heart from different moments I've lived, and how I curate them on my body comes through the feeling of life lived, love, excitement, passion, curiosity, and fun.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
Oh my! It would be to see the vision of 27th Ave. Clothing kick off. I have such a heart for women, the way we walk is so unique, I couldn't imagine designing without the human heart in mind. My vision for the brand is to help those who have come from sex-trafficking find their dignity again (what feels stolen can be replaced with love and healing with the right people) and my heart is for my fashion brand to establish the thought that dignity can be found in gowns created with purpose.
What would you do with $20,000?
I have a really huge heart for anti-sex trafficking, and am starting a clothing brand called 27th Ave Clothing (named after the hotspot of trafficking here in Phoenix), and I’d love to use the prize money to raise awareness about the ongoing epidemic of sex-trafficking by growing 27th Ave Clothing through fashion to create gowns that help women heal, rebuild, and rediscover dignity after abuse. For dignity is never lost, but restored with healing love.
