I used to be scared to be myself. I want to show kids who feel like I did they never have to water themselves down for anybody.
We would like to thank you for supporting April Cox (mtf trans) in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
I think my style stands out because it’s MY STYLE. I don’t have many fashion influences, I just do what I think is cool. I try to ignore what people think looks “should” be and do what I think is cool. For better or worse, but always unique, always April.๐
Whatโs your dream fashion moment?
As a kid, I never thought I’d ever be able to be myself. I grew up in North Carolina, and as a trans girl, it was hard. My dream moment is to make it onto TV and show people like me you CAN be yourself and achieve ALL your dreams. My dream moment isn’t all me, it’s really about what it means for the kids looking up to me and realizing they can to.
What would you do with $20,000?
I’ve been in a few bad accidents in the past few years, and wake up in pain most days because of it. I’d honestly probably pay for physical therapy for myself and my girlfriend first, she is also experiencing pain daily from a spine injury last year. I think other than that I’d try to use it to create my own clothing line, which has always been a dream of mine. ๐
