Having style as a fat transman empowers me and feels like rebelling against an industry that isn’t made for people like me in mind.
We would like to thank you for supporting Andru Vazquez in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
My style stands out because I’m the one wearing it. I don’t let my size, my gender or my sex assigned at birth keep me from wearing what feels good and looks good to me. I’ve always made do with what I could and it’s always caught people’s attention. The fashion industry isn’t meant to work for someone like me, but I make it work.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dream fashion moment is being on the runway as a plus size trans man.
What would you do with $20,000?
With $20,000 the first thing I would do is finally pay my car loan off and pay my car insurance premium for the next year. I’d have about $10k left and that would go to my credit card debt. It would pay off my credit card debt with that. It’s not this “wow!” thing that I’d do, but I would be free of the stress and burden and would have more money available to help my family with the mortgage and bills.
