My style is influenced by post-punk subcultures. I love to thrift—then alter/mod pieces into something unique and artistic that stands out.
We would like to thank you for supporting Andrew Tompkins in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
They say that art is for the artist, and I would have to say that is true for my style as well. I find that when I put together an outfit that makes me feel confident and creative, it turns more heads and gets more compliments compared to the outfits I've made to impress others. I love having the freedom to alter and modify the clothes I wear, in order to create pieces that are one of a kind, and truly unique to my person only.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
My dreams would come true as a designer, in New York City. The culture there is so rich in fashion, I feel as though I would be struggling to stay on top of my ideas being constantly showered with inspiration from the streets. I would greatly enjoy having the resources and networking potential to have my pieces seen and critiqued from fellow creatives, and fashion seeking peers alike.
What would you do with $20,000?
A prize of $20,000 would greatly support my art accessory brand grow into something bigger. Right now I am struggling for space to work on my pieces, and a monetary reward of that number would help me get into an art studio where I can work without as many limitations. The prize money would go directly into my creative aspirations and endeavors, as I continue to persevere through life and take risks to accomplish my dream.
