I like how style can be a vehicle of expression, it’s a moving piece of art that helps encapsulate emotion and a period of time.
We would like to thank you for supporting Amreet Sidhu in this years competition. Your participation allows us to empower the Elton John AIDS Foundation in their mission to end AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
What makes your style stand out?
My grandma always said it’s not the way you dress but the way you carry yourself. The saying might be a bit kitsch, but I believe it’s a mantra to live by. Style isn’t just about owning and curating but also about carrying yourself as a form a self love, which can be deeply reflected in your clothes, accessories, etc. Style can carry family history and style can also become an heirloom. My grandma’s words are like the necklace I adorn myself with — gripping and moving.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
I am still infatuated with Alexander McQueen’s 1996 show, Dante. A dream fashion moment in relation to myself would just be the chance to watch a show that to me is moving art, with layered motifs, and something that stirs the soul deeply. I’d love a seat at any show to soak it all in, truly.
What would you do with $20,000?
Wow. I would burst into tears firstly. Second, I would use it to pursue my dreams of starting an online shop that sells curated gold jewellery, I have a real passion for jewellery and selling unique custom designs using fine metals! Third, I’d pay off some of my student loan debt (I know I know), and donate the rest to Gaza aid relief.
