What makes your style stand out?

My ability to see the beauty in any and everything sets my style apart. I began my fashion journey up cycling fabrics and thrifted fashion, transforming materials into luxurious pieces. Styling for me is all about funky and flattering silhouettes, while integrating different textures, contrasting colors, and cultural touches. My Ethiopian roots also play a key role in the unique detailing in all of my looks, highlighting the golden lineage that came before me.

What’s your dream fashion moment?

I had a dream recently where I saw a group of models closing out a fashion show wearing an assortment of unique fabrics that both defied gravity while dancing around them as they strutted fiercely. The collection consisted of deep earth tones paired with rustic bronze finishing touches, beautifully contrasting the different shades of brown on the canvas that was the runway. As soon as it concluded I saw myself walk out thanking everyone in tears for joining me. This is my dream fashion moment.

What would you do with $20,000?

I have a few designs that I’ve been working on, both up cycled and completely original. I would invest this money into product development, making sure I have the right assistance for the complexity of my ideas. Next, invest in building brand identity and website, as well as business registration and trademarks. I would also want to invest in fashion education to enhance my skills and expos to continue to build my network. Lastly, I would set aside a contingency fund for any unexpected expenses.
