What makes your style stand out?

My style stands out because it's eclectic and bold. I view the body as a site for assemblage, thoughtfully curated and expressing creativity. I feel most powerful when I am adorned with colours and jewellery. My style is a unique perspective on modest styling. Through fashion, I claim agency over how my body can be seen; to witness my queer brown body, in part or in full, is a privilege I reserve with intention - like a precious jewel, my body is wrapped and adorned as a form of care.

What’s your dream fashion moment?

My dream fashion moment is to influence people to love clothes. I believe in radical self expression, one that exists outside of trends. We all come from a unique background and story, and for me, that is the basis of real style. I could only afford to thrift and make my most fashionable pieces, and I champion that with grace. I love style that carries our stories, and pieces that starts conversations; I want to hear people tell me a story about a hat their grandmother wore.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would like to invest it in my art practice. I am a student of the fine arts, I currently study the intersection of drawing and painting in relation to fashion and sewing. I will use the money to go towards my art projects. One current project is a series of clothing artifacts made from paper; I am thinking about the unseen labour and the ephemeral nature of clothing. I'm interested in the role of clothing in our lives.
