I have been sewing since I was a child. It is within my craft I keep finding myself and family. Style is remembering.
What makes your style stand out?
My style is heavily rooted in ancestral aesthetics from all parts of my identity whether that be the coast Salish or the island of wales…or really any of the waters in between. My style is a direct reflection of many stylish and well dressed members of my family and to me creation is an opportunity to always stay remembering them and what they brought into my life. I make all parts of my regalia and that is always a fundamental part of my creation process. The craft of my ancestors guides me.
What’s your dream fashion moment?
To be the next style icon of course. I want to make fashion for the rest of my life. I would love to get given the financial resource I need to create garments to the levels I know I’m capable of. It’s hard in America to do this; but we need impeccable art everywhere.
What would you do with $20,000?
Present a fashion show at a surrealist ball in my hometown of Leavenworth Washington. As well set 10,000 aside for savings and future creations in a trust. I would also create new costumes for my local studios Nutcracker production.
